Sample Project: Ridgeline Apartments

A fictional twelve-unit apartment building whose wavy balcony line opens toward the mountains.

The brief

On a narrow lot, every unit needed a mountain view and the shared entry needed daylight.

Approach

We pushed the balconies out from the facade and staggered them along a sliding line. Each balcony shades the unit below and stays out of the neighbor's line of sight.

We raised the entry hall to two stories. The stair takes its light from above, so the artificial lighting can stay off during the day.
